The Lights of Night

City lights are fading tonight

Dogs are shouting

For the foods they bite

Strangers moving with the shadow besides

The night outs are heavy

The day outs have light

The moonlight is ploughing

The darkness of delight

The dreamers are dreaming

Believing everything to be right

The birds are waiting

For the early sunrise 

For the playgrounds and grasses

To brim again with the watery light .
